I wrote a blog post for the good folks at The Copy Collective about International Darwin Day.
Instead, it’s a celebration of the man, Charles Robert Darwin that takes place annually on 12th February.
Of course Darwin was the eminent English naturalist, widely acclaimed for his scientific study, achievements and subsequent legacy.
Happy International Darwin Day!

Astrid has an international name in photography and brings her aesthetic as a graphic designer to GkJE.
Living in The Netherelands, Astrid’s a multi-faceted collaborator, working as a producer of Dutch photography exhibitions, and organising shows in New York, Amsterdam, Leiden and Tokyo.
Geoff and Astrid met through 2016’s Head On Photo Festival in Australia, when he curated her show Urbanite, on exhibition at GkJE 1. In her photographic work, Astrid stages scenes that verge on the surreal, and her design work is strongly influenced by her sense of space and place.
Photographically, she positions individuals and objects where they don’t seem to belong, moving the familiar into an unfamiliar landscape, her photographs seem to recontextualise normality.
Her photographic work was been purchased by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and was published by Aesthetica Magazine (UK), New Dawn (NL), Metro New York, De Fotograaf (NL), Artworks Amsterdam, Art Takes Miami, Fonk Magazine (NL), featured by LensCulture and Internationale Kunst Heute 2016 (DE) – English Translation.
An accomplished journalist and editor, Lisa brings vast publishing experience to GkJE.
She’s interviewed countless personalities, written numerous profiles and helped to launch a number of upmarket magazines in Sydney and London, and always aims to get to the heart of a story.
Over the past 25 years Lisa’s covered everything from fashion, sustainable building practices, social media, child care and oyster farming to oncology, cosmetic medicine, luxury spas and travel hotspots.
Accustomed to working with small and professional teams, Lisa specifically brings extensive experience in custom publishing to GkJE.
That experience includes editing a diverse mix of titles, including Symmetry (Subaru) FeelBetter (Medibank Private), The Private Practice Magazine(Fintuition), Welcome Home (HSBC), Source (Qantas), Changing Lives (TAFE Western) and TAILORMADE (Tailored Construction Group).
Lisa continues to contribute to a wide range of print and online publications and – by her own admission – works best under pressure and to tight deadlines. We love that!
